Thank you for visiting the BosStrapTM website. This section provides some background information on how I developed the original BosStrap Camera Sling System. The original two-piece BosStrap Camera Sling System included the BosStrap with a releasable connector that attached to the a ring on the BosTail. The BosStrap is worn across your torso and the BosTail was permanently installed on your camera strap lug.
I have been an avid amateur photographer for about 40 years. My training as a mechanical engineer includes extensive product development experience with industrial and consumer products. I know that if a new product is to be viable, it must offer unique benefits and functionality to the user at a reasonable price.
As an amateur photographer, I saw a need for a truly usable camera strap system that is simple, effective, and comfortable. Existing products did not meet these needs. After reading and compiling comments from over 600 reviews of camera straps and slings, and purchasing several different products for evaluation, it became clear that many features important to me would also be important to other serious photographers. I engineered a design that incorporates all these features.
I made several conceptual designs and thoroughly tested and refined them until I was satisfied. However, a crucial part of creating a product includes extensive field testing by the targeted market audience. I enlisted four professional photographers, two semi-photographers as well as amateur photographers to test the BosStrap Camera Sling System.
For three months, the BosStrap saw use in both the studio and field environments. Professional use proved that the BosStrap met all its original claims. As a benefit, several refinements resulted to the original design that extends BosStrap’s usefulness. Professional camera repair technicians confirmed the viability of the design. Actual weight test validation on BosStrap components and full systems further refined my original design and component choices.
With product design complete, I decided to form BosStrap LLC to produce an initial run of BosStraps.
From the outset, I wanted BosStraps to be made here in the US. I identified parts suppliers and fabricators who could satisfy my goal. Even the thread that is used in the BosStrap in made here in the US!
Two of the many features incorporated in the BosStrap Camera Sling System are worth some further description:
Shoulder pads: The BosStrap Camera Sling System does not use a shoulder pad. No matter what the manufacturer claims, shoulder pads WILL move. These excessively thick and cumbersome pads are often a nuisance more than an aid. Actual field testing has shown that a wider strap effectively replaces a shoulder pad. On a BosStrap system, a 1-1/2” wide belt distributes the weight of the camera. There is no pad to deal with. The seat belt webbing offers strength, softness, and smoothness making it very comfortable to wear for long periods.
Several advantages for the photographer result by eliminating the shoulder pad: no migrating pad to constantly readjust, lighter weight, strap does not need to be removed when stowing the camera, simply wrap it around the lens, and lower cost.
Attachment point: The BosStrap Camera Sling System includes a BosTailTM that you attach to the left camera strap lug on the body. BosTails can remain attached to the camera. BosTails work equally well with bodies that have a factory supplied eyelet with split ring like those used on many Nikon cameras, or with a slotted lug like those on Canon bodies.
Since BosTails use a camera strap lug, the tripod socket is always available. No more will you have to remove a fitting in the tripod socket when switching between hand-held shooting and a tripod. Simply open the TriggerLocTM to release the BosStrap and move to a tripod.
Remember, BosStrap products come with a full money back thirty (30) day guarantee, and a one (1) year replacement warrantee on products that fail due to manufacturing defects. I hope you enjoy these and other benefits of the BosStrap Camera Sling System. And please tell me about your experience using it.
Thanks again for checking out BosStraps.
